Based in Heron, Montana, Big Sky Packer and Guide School and Elk Creek Outfitting are full-time outfitters who have been in the business for over 30 years.
I’d like to personally invite you to join us at Big Sky Packer and Guide School. “School” was never like this. You will learn Trophy Hunting Techniques, Horsemanship, Packing, Map & Compass, Camp Cooking, First Aid, Wilderness Survival and much more. You will learn all you need to know for your Guide Certification. Being an Instructor as well as the Outfitter, I want to help you Understand and Learn from the Best in some of the Best Big Game Country in the Rocky Mountains.
Born & raised in the area, our family has been in the outfitting/guiding business for more than 30 years, and we plan to be for another 30! I grew up 2 miles down Elk Creek, hiking, hunting and enjoying the great outdoors. Our guides/Instructors are all experienced hunters and know the animals & country well. Together we will work hard to make your new career the best it can be!

Tim Chandler hunting guide / Forman / local area expert for Elk Creek outfitting has been putting trophy animals in hunters sights here for 25 years pictures and story’s of past hunts cover the walls. Growing up just over the western Montana line he has spent his whole life hunting this rugged style country and has the knowledge to get both his clients in the best possible position to succeed and all wanting to become a guide the tools to succeed we are proud to have him in our core group
