I just want to say thank you to elk creek outfitting for helping me achieve a dream I’ve always had. To become a big game hunting guide. The guide school took me to a level of hunting expertise that I never knew I would reach. They taught me how to track game. Call game. And the proper identification of game of all north American big game animals. The school took us thru horsemanship and packing. It taught us 1st aid, caping large animals in the field for taxidermy prep., land navigation, basic marksmanship, tree and plant identification and the proper guide/client relations.

I once heard someone say “Find what you love to do, and get someone to pay you to do it”

I grew up in Tennessee and always had the dream of one day becoming a hunting guide. After taking the leap to pursue my dream, I have never forgotten those words.

I am 53 years old and am literally ” living the dream”. I love to hunt, and I love to fish, there is no other profession I would rather be doing.

I am a Professional hunting guide in Montana as well as a Charter fishing boat Captain during the summer month’s in Destin, FL

Prior to becoming a Professional guide, I thought about my passion of wanting to hunt big game out west. After receiving the opportunity of a life time, I packed up and headed to northwest Montana for guide school.

From navigating in the mountains, packing horses, learning wilderness survival, handling clients, and dealing with meat in the bush, Big Sky Packer and Guide school has the most experienced, skilled and professional instructors you will find. During my time at guide school, I gained not only guiding skills, but amazing experiences and memories that will last a life time.

I have been guiding at Elk Creek Outfitting for 3 seasons, and Brent (Boss) Fitchett is by far the best man I have ever worked for, and in my opinion, runs the most top notch outfit in the country!

For those of you who have wanted to pursue your dream but have been held back by excuses or your own fears, I am here as a reminder to tell you, that you can do whatever you want to do, and get someone to pay you to do it.

Yeah, I’m “living the dream”, I GET PAID TO HUNT AND FISH! If it wasn’t for my own leap of faith to attend guide school, I would not be the happy man that I am today!

When I became interested in going to guide school, I researched several schools. I chose Elk Creek Outfitting Guide School because of the staff. After talking to Tim and Brent about their school, it was clear they were very sincere and knowledgeable about the outdoors. They also displayed a true passion for guiding and hunting.

My favorite part of guide school was the overnight hikes in the mountains. The learning was profound, as we hiked. Tim guided us and challenged us with identification of the tree, plant, and animal species. We learned valuable woodsman and mapping skills. The packing and horsemanship part of the school was thorough and hands on. We had to practice until we got it. Overall, Elk Creek Outfitting Guides School has made me a better person, hunter and woodsman. I am grateful to have had such an amazing experience with a great group of teachers and made friends for life.

I went thru the Guide School. What a amazing experience, The class instruction is well thought out and prepared. Instructors are passionate about their jobs.
The course would be great for anyone wanting to learn more about the outdoors as well as someone who wants to make this a career, like I did.
